Parent GCSE

"Sarah is amazing. Thoroughly experienced in teaching English literature to bright teenagers and preparing them for exam boards, she gives her students an unparalleled advantage. Sarah’s unique blend of intellectual rigour and fun has deepened my daughter’s love of English literature and sharpened her analytical skills far beyond anything available within the classroom. Sarah has guided and stretched her past the curriculum in every respect and my daughter looks forward to each weekly session. Deeply committed to her students and their success, Sarah has consistently gone out of her way to support my daughter and I couldn’t recommend her more highly."

"When our daughter’s news came through from Cambridge, we were generally thrilled for her because she is so passionate about English. Her result doubtless owes much to her own hard work and dedication. However, it also owes a huge amount to the support and encouragement that Sarah gave her. Sarah’s belief and confidence in her was both touching and inspiring for us but it was decisively important for her. Sarah has helped a girl to achieve her dream. She will never forget it. Nor will we."

Good evening, Sarah. I just wanted to share good news: my daughter got offers from all the schools that we’ve applied to, apart from SPGS for which she was waitlisted. It is a great outcome for as you know SPGS wasn’t her first choice - she preferred Latymer and Highgate and got offers from both. She also got offers from NLC, Godolphin, South Hampstead and two Francis Holland schools with academic distinction. Thank you so much for all the work you put in it. It’s such a fantastic result.

Sarah’s guidance was invaluable during my daughters’ 11+ preparation. She not only strengthened her academic skills but also built her confidence and resilience throughout the process. My daughter always looked forward to the lessons as Sarah managed to make even the most challenging topics engaging and approachable. The tailored support and encouragement she provided was second to none and made a real difference. Sarah still teaches my daughter and we hope to keep her for many years to come. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

"I feel very privileged to have had you as my tutor and mentor. You have inspired me, motivated and supported me and I genuinely think I could not have got through the last hurdles without you. I leave with a passion for literature that will last me a lifetime – I am truly indebted to you."

"I have just received my GCSE results, and I would like to extend my deepest, most heart- felt thanks for all the help you have given me for my English GCSEs. Undeniably, without your help, my results would not be as excellent as they are. In total, I managed to receive an 8 in Literature and 9 in Language! Coming from receiving 5/6 in the mocks last year, this progress is incredible! I am unbelievably happy with this result. Once again, thank you so much for helping me achieve this! "

"My daughter lost a lot of confidence in her first year of studying A- level English, not helped by her mock exam result in the Autumn term of her second year where she was predicted an E. Her teachers were not encouraging. She was angry and a bit down about it all. We were even considering her changing schools and retaking the year, things had got that low. Enter Sarah Wah. I’m not quite sure how she did it but as soon as she started working with my daughter, my daughter became more positive about her English studies and work; sounds a bit cheesy but she started to believe in herself a bit more. She would tell me that Sarah thought she was improving and that Sarah thought she had lots of potential. I really appreciated also having contact with Sarah so we could work out together what help my daughter needed. There were some difficult times when my daughter was still getting really low grades from her school homework. But calmly and patiently Sarah seemed to rebuild her way of working on essays and started to get her to look deeper into the texts - things she didn’t seem to be able to do when in a classroom environment. This was all done online. Bit by bit her confidence started to emerge. Anyway, August 18th arrives - A level results day. She’s worked so hard and she actually needs a B in English to get into her university of choice. SHE GOT AN A. An A. An actual A. In one paper she got 58 marks out of 60! Up from an E in one and a bit terms. But it isn’t really the grade that makes us the most happy - it is the fact that she worked really hard and that she was so proud of herself. The first person she wanted to call after getting her results and telling us was SARAH WAH."

"Sarah, I just wanted to share the fantastic news that our son has offers from St Paul's, City of London, Dulwich and Eton. St Paul's is definitely his favourite. He did well in both exams and interviews and they really liked him! I'm so glad we managed to get your help and support - his confidence bloomed after your lessons and it shows in the fantastic results. Thank you so much once again."
